Amoris Laetitia, Heresy, and All Sorts of Juicy Error

I take a couple of weeks off from blogging, and it seems that all Hell has broken lose.

Now, I took a break because priorities in life had shifted a bit. We welcomed the birth of my daughter just a couple of weeks ago, so I have been busy. She was baptized a couple of days after her birth in the Traditional Rite.

It surprises me how much I have forgotten in just the short year and a half since my son was born. The immense innocence that they possess, not knowing anything really, completely dependent upon their mother and father for all of their needs. My son is already doing a lot on his own and beginning to get himself into trouble, though I admit he is unaware of it.

Having taken this time off from blogging has allowed me to think more of the direction I want to take this blog, and no, I won’t be blogging less, though who knows. Late last summer I was committed to publishing three articles a week, and for a while, I was able to do that. After some time, I got worn out, mostly because I always waited until the last minute and felt that I had to have something.

In my mind, the quality of my posts began to diminish some. They were rushed, they were sloppy, and a lot of times they weren’t properly thought out. That’s not to say all of them were that way, and maybe I’m too hard on myself.

I plan on continuing my writing and analysis on issues that are affecting the Church, including articles on combatting various heresies of our day, differing devotions and how they can help you live a holier life, and other articles meant to proclaim the goodness of Catholicism. I will continue to focus on the antics of Pope Francis, as every single day he does something contrary to Catholic teaching. And since the media stays focused on him, his antics are affecting billions of people. Many will argue to the contrary, but there are already many converts we have lost because they don’t see the need of being Catholic. We observe this with a lot of liberals who claim to “love Pope Francis” but wouldn’t dare become Catholic.

In the last week alone, we’ve witnessed a disastrous Apostolic Exhortation, Amoris Laetitia, or a letter, which is composed of nearly 60,000 words. I don’t know about you, but if someone wrote me a 230 some odd page letter, I probably wouldn’t read it. This massive document opens up the door for the divorced, remarried, and homosexual to receive the Holy Eucharist. This is blasphemous.

Many Catholic pundits are arguing that Amoris Laetitia doesn’t open up the door in the slightest, which is why bishops such as Archbishop Cupich and the German Cardinals are praising it for being groundbreaking. Either these prelates had a massive conversion, or the document is error-ridden. I’ll place my bets on the latter.

Pope Francis has also sympathized with Judas, claimed that “persecution is the daily bread of the Church“, and scolded those who adhere to tradition, labeling them as Pharisees, because that horse hasn’t been beaten to death enough.

And just today, on his papal presser aboard the “Papal Interviews on a Papal Plane Aren’t Magisterial” plane, Pope Francis admits that the document opens up the door. Then proceeded to say that it isn’t a big deal. Because spending more than two years, two Synods, and writing a 60,000-word letter isn’t a “big deal.”

He also accepted 12 Muslim migrants who will be staying at the Vatican. Apparently there were four Christians who were “late with their paperwork”. Right. He accepted the Muslims because they are “children of God,” which any Catholic with a 3rd-grade catechesis knows is heretical because only those who are baptized are Children of God, c.f. Galatians 3:26.

We are living in unprecedented times, times in which we have an openly heretical Pope and not a single priest, bishop, or cardinal who is willing to do a damn thing about it. No, not even Cardinal Burke is going to do anything about it, as he has already given suppressing fire for Amoris Laetitia. I do hope I’m wrong, but he won’t save us.

During this time, we need to stay close to the confessional. We need to be in the state of grace. In the last week, many earthquakes have been reported around the globe, much more than normal. God is not happy with what is going on with His Church.

Continue to pray for the Pope, the Church, your family, and friends. Live a good, holy life, pleasing to the Lord. If you have not done so, I encourage you to consecrate yourself to Jesus through Mary, using St. Louis de Montfort’s method (not Fr. Gaitley’s watered down, wishy-washy method in which he barely discusses what it means to be consecrated).

Most importantly, learn the faith and defend it with your very life. It is getting rough out there, and there’s a good chance your home parish won’t even have your back when push comes to shove.

Modernists and the Synod: Attacking Tradition and Ecclesiastical Authority

As we are in the final week of the Synod on the Family, we look at the last excerpt from Pope St. Pius X’s encyclical Pascendi Dominici Gregis (on Modernism).

Q. Contrast the conduct of the Modernists toward the Catholic champion with the methods displayed toward their own partisans?

A. While in flagrant contrast with this policy toward Catholics, they load with constant praise the writers who range themselves on their side, hailing their works, exuding novelty in every page, with choruses of applause.

If you have read me regularly leading up to and throughout the Synod on the Family, then you likely know where I will be going with this section. As we know, Walter Cardinal Kasper has been in favor of allowing the divorced, remarried, and actively homosexual to receive Holy Communion for quite some time. This is not new. This has been known for several decades. He is a Modernist through and through and has quite a bit of support from a number of the Cardinals.

What was even more surprising was the support he received from Pope Francis. Pope Francis stated specifically that the theology Cardinal Kasper proposed was “serene” and “an example of doing theology from one’s knees”. The theology that Cardinal Kasper proposed has already been condemned by Our Lord Jesus Christ. This can not be changed or negotiated. Those who are living in mortal sin, regardless of the sin, can not receive The Holy Eucharist. They must repent and remove themselves from the situation that puts them in their state of mortal sin. Until they amend their lives, they can not receive.

Q. How do the Modernists gage the learning of an author?

A. For them the scholarship of a writer is in direct proportion to the recklessness of his attacks on antiquity, and of his efforts to undermine Tradition and the ecclesiastical magisterium.

Q. When a Modernist falls under the condemnations of the Church, are his fellows bold enough to support him?

A. When one of their number falls under the condemnations of the Church the rest of them, to the horror of good Catholics, gather round him, heap public praise upon him, venerate him almost as a martyr to truth.

Continuing from above, we see that Pope Francis has indeed praised Cardinal Kasper for his outright attacks on Catholic teaching. What makes it even worse is the other attacks Pope Francis himself has made upon the Holy Catholic Church. This past weekend, Pope Francis called for the decentralization of the Church and allowing local bishops’ conferences the freedom to determine how they will handle the “solutions” for administering the Holy Eucharist to divorced, remarried, and actively homosexuals.

Considering Catholic teaching is crystal clear, I will spell it out for those who don’t understand. You can’t receive the Eucharist if you are in mortal sin. Doing so will compound even more mortal sin on your soul and will lead you to Hell if you die. If a Bishop or priest gives you permission to receive with mortal sin on your soul, he is damning his soul and yours. No priest or bishop has the ability to the authority to change a mortal sin.

By Pope Francis’ actions, we can see that he is no champion of the Catholic faith. Continue to fast and pray. Psalm 108:8.

2,000+ Signatures and Why I Signed It

In only a matter of two days, the Petition asking the orthodox synod fathers to perform a walkout has reached a number of 2,000 signatures. This is simply incredible. From my understanding, petitions generally gather about 1/10 of the signatures of those who actually do support the petition. That means that in all likelihood, the petition has the support of 20,000 Catholics. Getting this much attention in only a few days with that many signatures is nothing short than a miracle.

This petition is the most important petition of this century. Requesting the Synod Fathers who are defending Christ’s teaching on marriage and the family to walk out is a slap in the face to the heterodox. It shows that the orthodox fathers are indeed following in the footsteps of Christ and refusing to waste their time with those who refuse to listen to the Gospel (c.f. Matthew 10:14, Mark 6:11, Luke 9:5).

Since this petition’s release, I’ve seen a number of comments arguing how a walk out would be “giving up” on Christ. I’d like to address these concerns.

It wouldn’t be giving up. A Synod’s purpose is to provide advice to the Pope in order for him to make a decision.  Attendance is not mandatory for a prelate. An invitation is extended to him and he can either accept or decline. Likewise, a prelate can leave at any given moment.

It would be similar to you inviting some friends over to have a discussion on how you should approach a problem. You drafted up some rules and gave them all to your friends. But a few days before your friends were to come over, you changed the rules and stated that you won’t listen to some of your friends. If these friends, which you just insulted, were to walk out of your house after an hour of discussion in which you repeated told them you weren’t going to give their opinions any weight, would they be abandoning you? Absolutely not. You abandoned them by ignoring them.

Another argument I’ve heard, which is rather quite immature, is that walking out on the Synod would be abandoning Christ on the Cross. This is solemn nonsense. Christ died on the Cross to restore mankind from their fallen nature and allow them to be brought back into the state of grace through His sacrifice and giving of Himself. Jesus also stated in the Gospel that man and woman come together and are bound. Divorce is not allowed. Standing behind Christ’s teaching on divorce and remarriage is not “abandoning Him on the Cross”. Rather, those unorthodox prelates at the Synod trying their damnedest to change Church teaching are the ones who are abandoning Jesus on the Cross.

There is also a historical precedence of Bishops walking out of an ecumenical council. Steve Skojec, writing for One Peter Five gives us more:

The two bishops who voted on that day against the decree, as soon as Pius the Ninth had confirmed it, at once submitted and made a profession of their faith. They proved by their adverse vote the liberty which the 55 who left Rome equally possessed; and by their prompt submission they showed to the world that their opposition had been offered not to the truth of the doctrine, but to the expediency of defining it.

In the instance of the First Vatican Council, these 55 bishops removed themselves from the proceedings rather than vote against the promulgation of Pastor Aeternus, and by extension, Pope Pius IX, openly. They opposed something which in fact became a dogma; but these were not schismatic men, nor were they accused of being such. They were faithful sons of the Church, loyal to her teaching, concerned about the potential damage such a proclamation might do, and ultimately, obedient to the legitimate exercise of papal authority on the matter.

If bishops can in good conscience and without culpability leave an Ecumenical Council in protest over the promulgation of something proven to be a Divine Truth, how much more liberty should they be afforded when faced with the possibility of removing themselves from a Synod attempting to introduce pastoral practices which will lead the faithful into error and sin?

Finally, if you believe that the Holy Spirit is going to protect the Church from error, then there is no need to worry if the orthodox bishops and Cardinals walk out, after all, the Holy Spirit will protect the Church, right? If the Holy Spirit will prevent heresy from entering the Church, then we might as well go on auto-pilot and let God sort it out, no?

I signed this petition because I the deck has been stacked against the Truth in regards to divorced, remarried, and actively homosexual to receive Holy Communion. Those who uphold Christ’s teachings are not given much time to discuss. The Synod’s rules have changed in that this is the first Synod with closed doors, no reports, no transparencies. The final document was being drafted before the Synod even began. The Synod is just a show and there is no reason for it to go on. The decisions have already been made.
