What Do You Believe? Novus Ordo vs. Traditional Latin Mass Catholics

For those of you who frequent my blog, you know that I often compare the differences between the Novus Ordo and the Traditional Latin Mass. You know that I have a strong preference for the Traditional Latin Mass and believe that it is not only better but far superior to the Novus Ordo. But is there any way to show some substantive evidence that the TLM is, in fact, better than the NO? At least, can we demonstrate that those who attend the TLM believe more of what the Church teaches and adhere to her doctrines?

The other day, my mother-in-law told me that she would love to see a statistical comparison between Novus Ordo Catholics and Traditional Catholics to see the differences between what percent of each group actually believes in the Church’s teachings and practices. Ironically enough, I saw that on Facebook somebody shared this information.

Now to be academically and intellectually honest, I’m unsure where the statistics came from for the TLM Catholics polled. However, the sample size is rather large (considering there are statistically far less TLM Catholics than Catholics at large) and so I believe it is at least worth looking at and commenting on. It is also worth mentioning that the “Catholics” category includes all types of Catholics from TLM Catholics to NO Catholics to heretical Catholics.

According to a 2016 Pew Research poll, only 13% of Catholics believe that contraception is not permissible. Of the 841 TLM Catholics who responded, 98% believe that contraception is not permissible.

With the same poll, 53% of Catholics believe abortion is not permissible, compared to 98% of the 833 TLM Catholics who responded.

A 2017 CARA poll shows that 23% of Catholics attend Mass, compared to 99% of 824 TLM Catholics.

The same poll shows that 33% of Catholics believe marriage is between a man and a woman, compared to 99% of 826 TLM Catholics.

A 2013 Catholic Philly poll shows that Catholics only give 1.2% in the collection, as opposed to TLM Catholics who give 6.2%. I take this one with a grain of salt as the Catholic Philly is out of Philadelphia, and this could potentially be an outlier.

A 2015 Pew Research poll shows that only 43% of Catholics go to confession once a year as well as weekly Mass, as opposed to 99% of TLM Catholics (only 81 samples though).

The same poll shows that Catholics have an average of 2.3 children, whereas TLM Catholics have an average of 3.7 children (with 494 responses).

Overall, the numbers are revealing a disturbing trend in that NO Catholics appear not to know their faith and quite possibly, may not believe it too.

And yes, this is just one poll whose origins are unknown to us at this time, but it certainly lends to the idea that traditional Catholicism, or Catholicism as I like to call it, is indeed better for souls than what the majority of prelates are peddling as Catholic. If I can track down where this poll came from, I will certainly let you know.

The very fact that the attitude within the Church is that the people who believe in her teachings are somehow detrimental to those who oppose her teachings is complete nonsense. Solemn non-sense even.

You Have a Moral Duty To Vote Trump and Defeat Hillary Clinton

With the election looming only three short weeks away, we are hearing more and more Catholics and conservatives talking about something that seems rather absurd; voting for a third party candidate.

Why would I call this idea absurd? Simply put, we have Hillary Clinton, the most radical, pro-abortion candidate to ever run for President in this country as the front-runner of this race, according to polls released thus far.

Hillary Clinton has an excellent chance of winning this election, whether through honesty or rigged elections. The only other candidate who has an excellent chance of winning this election is Donald Trump, a man who has proposed giving us pro-life Supreme Court justices, willing to defend the 2nd Amendment, and many other pro-family values. He has also written a sincere letter to Catholics discussing the importance Catholics have had in building this country and how he will fight for our religious freedom.

No matter what your argument may be in Donald Trump not being “the best man for the job” there is a near zero chance of a third party candidate winning this election. Unless you can convince 60 million people to vote for said candidate in the next 20 days, you are throwing your vote away and allowing Hillary to walk away with this election.

In the third Presidential debate, Hillary admitted that she would put justices on the court that will make abortion legal for all nine months, up until the day the baby is ready to be born. If you are pro-life in the slightest, the very thought of this should leave you appalled, and this should send shivers down your spine. Babies who are ready to be born will die under this woman.

But what I have discovered is that it almost appears to me that the Catholic “pro-life” Church in America might want Hillary to win. I have seen numerous Bishops (Archbishop Chaput for example), come out against both candidates, treating Donald Trump as bad, if not worse, than the most radically pro-abortion candidate in the history of this country, a woman who admires Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood.

In 2008, we were told that we couldn’t vote for Obama, but we had to vote for McCain.

In 2012, we were told that we couldn’t vote for Obama, but we had to vote for Romney.

Both of these men were known as soft Republicans who had no interest in running a pro-life platform, except for those pesky six months before the election. Romney ran all of his previous election campaigns for various offices under a pro-choice position. “Well, he is from Massachusetts, but he was pro-life.” McCain was another soft Republican who never did much for the pro-life platform. But with both of these candidates, we were told that we had to stop Obama because of his staunch pro-abortion stance.

Apparently, that isn’t the case anymore now that Hillary is the nominee.

In 2016 we are told to vote our conscience even though Trump has done far more than either McCain or Romney ever had with pro-lifers or Catholics. Trump has given us a list of 20 Supreme Court justices who will uphold the Constitution, and overturn Roe V. Wade when given a chance. But apparently, when push comes to shove, it’s easier to claim to be pro-life when it makes one look like a good Catholic than to actually put those principles into practice.

Catholics and every single person on this planet have a moral duty to stop evil. But all I see Catholics doing is getting up on their high horses, puffing out their chests, and pretending that they are so high and mighty by ignoring Trump and allowing Hillary to walk away with this election, all because they voted their “conscience.”

As Pope St. John Paul II says in Christifideles Laici:

Above all, the common outcry, which is justly made on behalf of human rights-for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture-is false and illusory if the right to life, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition for all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination.

The USCCB, in their document Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship write:

Sometimes morally flawed laws already exist. In this situation, the process of framing legislation to protect life is subject to prudential judgment and “the art of the possible.” At times this process may restore justice only partially or gradually. For example, St. John Paul II taught that when a government official who fully opposes abortion cannot succeed in completely overturning a pro-abortion law, he or she may work to improve protection for unborn human life, “limiting the harm done by such a law” and lessening its negative impact as much as possible (Evangelium Vitae, no. 73). Such incremental improvements in the law are acceptable as steps toward the full restoration of justice. However, Catholics must never abandon the moral requirement to seek full protection for all human life from the moment of conception until natural death.

Pope Pius XII, in his March 16, 1946, letter to the Pastors and Lenten Preachers of Rome, wrote:

The exercise of the right to vote is an act of grave responsibility, at least when there is the question involved of electing those whose office it will be to give the country its constitutions and its laws, particularly those which effect, for example, the sanctification of feast days, marriage, family life and school, the various phases of social life. It therefore falls to the Church to explain to the faithful their moral duties which derive from their right to vote.

Again, two years later, Pope Pius XII strictly commands:

It is your right and duty to draw the attention of the faithful to the extraordinary importance of the coming elections and to the moral responsibility which follows from it for those who have the right to vote. In the present circumstances it is strictly obligatory for whoever has the right, man or woman, to take part in the elections. He who abstains, particularly through indolence or cowardice, commits thereby a grave sin, a mortal offense.

Anybody who decides not to vote, or votes for a third party candidate (their “conscience”) commits a mortal sin. Thus it is important that you form your conscience properly, and use it to stop evil.

Every single vote matters in this election and for Catholics who want to continue down the pro-life, pro-religious liberty, anti-contraceptives in health care, pro-traditional marriage path, I don’t see them rallying around Trump, the man who is going to stop Hillary. Hillary has promised that she will throw Catholics under the bus.

I urge you, to take what could very well be your last stand against evil. Protect innocent life. Cast your vote for Donald Trump.

Or you can stand on your pedestal and vote your conscience. We’ll both be in the gulags if Hillary wins.

The Battle Leaves One Weary

Today is a day that I do not feel like writing. But I am going to force myself to, because staying silent only allows the enemy to continue his onward march while the Truth is suppressed at every turn.

I’m finding it difficult to write mainly because I have lost hope in humanity. Now if you read my blog on a regular basis, I’m not speaking of you. On the contrary, I’m speaking of those who refuse to recognize and submit to the Truth no matter how it’s presented to them. We see the truth take the forms of the Gospel and the humanity of aborted babies.

In the last month, there have been seven videos released that explain the corruption behind Planned Parenthood and their destruction of little babies. The abortionists and other PP employees even admit to these babies as not clumps of cells or a fetuses, but as babies. They harvest the organs of these poor babies and sell them to the highest bidder.

A couple of months ago we were fighting the battle that the baby was a clump of cells or a fetus. Pro-abortionists would not recognize the humanity of these innocent children. We now have visual proof that these are indeed human babies (because somehow pro-choicers don’t understand science), and instead of admitting how disgusting, revolting, and evil these acts are, they tell us that it’s okay, because it’s legal.

HoldingBabiesHead-CMPVideo6-854px_810_500_55_s_c1

We are dealing with the utmost evil of individuals when they will look at an aborted baby and continue to support it, despite that they are looking at an aborted baby. There is no way one can look at the above image and not come to the conclusion that they are looking at a baby, a baby who has no ability to defend himself as he has the slightest inkling as to what is occurring around him. A baby who relied upon his mother to nurture him and take care of him, only for his mother to end his life because he was likely deemed “an inconvenience”.

Too many people are engrossed in their own wills that they refuse to look at reality and submit. They choose to be their own gods by destroying the most vulnerable of children, all the while throwing a temper tantrum because a dentist shot and killed a lion in Zimbabwe in which the Zimbabweans could care less about. The astonishing take away from this is the utter hypocrisy we see from these people in which they act as if they are completely free to do as they please, while infringing upon the rights of everyone around them, denying them up to the point of death as in the case of abortion.

Meanwhile, many Catholics are completely in denial or gullible in their belief that the Synod of the Family is going to be good for the Church, or thinking that Pope Francis will reign in these dissident bishops. They claim to love Jesus Christ Truly Present in the Eucharist, but their love for Jesus in the Eucharist is so minute that they have no problem in allowing those who are in public mortal sin to receive Him, despite the doctrinal teachings that say otherwise.

There is a lot of evidence to demonstrate how Pope Francis is trying to run the Synod into the ground, especially with his remark on how Cardinal Kasper’s theology is serene. But no matter what evidence we present to our fellow Catholics to demonstrate these truths, we are met with resistance, papolatry, and are returned with spiteful, venomous, and uncharitable retorts. The unforgivable sin today is not denial of the Holy Ghost, but rather, to not stick to the status quo of the post-conciliar Catholic Church, even though the PC Church has failed Catholics and Jesus Christ for the last 50 years.

I believe we are at a point where those who want to be on the side of God are already there. There are very few fence sitters that need convincing. Everything has been thrown onto the table and those who want to follow the Truth have already done so.

Even though the battle is beginning to wear us all down, I think it is important that we continue to evangelize in whichever medium you are called to. Whether that is writing, blogging, debating on Facebook or Twitter, talking to your friends, family or colleagues. At a minimum, we might grab a few more over to God’s side. More importantly, we will continue to encourage each other to live a good, holy life that is pleasing to God.

While the world is falling apart around us, we must keep our eyes toward Heaven and know that our trust is in the Lord, and that we are not alone in this fight. It will get rougher, but we need to stay strong. GO TO CONFESSION WEEKLY. GO TO MASS. PRAY THE ROSARY DAILY. Stay in a state of grace so that you may have the graces necessary to overcome adversity when it presents itself, as well as to be ready for judgment if you are called by Our Heavenly Father.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have Mercy on us.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pray for us.

One Easy Trick To Get Your Newborn To Fall Asleep

Being a first time father, I am quickly learning how tiresome and difficult parenting can be. Don’t get me wrong, parenting comes with many rewards that make everything worth it.

The most frustrating aspect of parenting in my view is getting your newborn to sleep.

Newborn Crying

I have discovered a method that has put my newborn to sleep generally within 5 minutes.

I have put on Gregorian Chant when it is time for bedtime. It does work for naps, but I have found it works better at night time.

Gregorian Chant is the highest form of music in the Church. Chant demands calmness. Chant relaxes the body and mind and puts it in a state of readiness for prayer. As newborns are still trying to figure out how to calm themselves in order that they might fall asleep, Chant is a perfect music to help put them to ease.

Giving your newborn Chant now will also allow them to develop a fondness for it as they grow up. It will acclimate them so they will be ready to worship properly and reverently when they get older.

We as Catholics should recover the lost beauty of Gregorian Chant in our every day lives. Our Catholic Identity depends on this beautiful music that gives praise to God in the language of the Church. We are Roman Catholics of the Latin Rite, as you rediscover your Catholic faith, ensure that you rediscover Latin.

Help yourself to Pandora’s Free Gregorian Chant Station.

So, give your child the gift of chant, and give yourself the gift of a full night of sleep.

Exciting News!

I’m going to be a dad!

My wife and I are expecting our first child!

In your generosity, if you could please pray for us, we would be very appreciative.

This is the picture we used to share the news to our friends on Facebook:

Kathy Prego

My favorite part of  the picture, is that the Prego is Traditional. That’s one less thing I have to worry about 😉
