Reintroducing Logic and Reason to the Age of Sentimentalism

President Trump and His Pro-Life Policies

President Trump is only a week into his presidency, and my goodness has it felt like Christmas every day.

Donald Trump Twitter

After the third debate, I wrote how we had a duty to vote for Trump to prevent abortions. I suspect that for many I was already preaching to the choir. Those that read that article were going to vote for President Trump anyways. I know some continued to scoff at me because they knew “he would never be a pro-life president.”

So far, President Trump has done quite a bit to squash abortions:

  • He’s signed an order to stop funding of Planned Parenthood International.
  • He’s signed an Executive Order to begin weakening Obamacare, along with Congress who are voting to repeal it.
  • He called out the media during his interview with ABC’s David Muir about their failure to cover the March for Life where millions of people march to protect the unborn.
  • Vice President Mike Pence will be speaking at the March for Life, something that no other Vice President has done (that I’m aware of).

And this is just wrapping up week one!

President Trump announced on Twitter that he’d be making his Supreme Court nomination pick next Thursday, so that’ll be exciting.

Additionally, President Trump has signed an Executive Order to build the wall. Many Bishops and priests are upset with this news, claiming that walls “do not represent the Gospel,” are “not pro-life,” and even “non-Christian.” Ironically, all of these Bishops and priests reside in houses with walls, doors, and locks. Jesus never said anything in the Gospel about not building walls (if you want to show me where He says that chapter and verse, I’m all ears) but references many times the need for walls and doors. An example would be when the five virgins who did not have enough oil in their lamps were not allowed into the party when they returned c.f. Matthew 25:1-13

We have a President who will promote the authentic pro-life (read anti-abortion) position. But while President Trump continues to defend the unborn, many liberal Catholics, and unfortunately some conservative Catholics within the Church will continue to stick their nose in the air and pretend that the “official” pro-life position encompasses everything that it doesn’t all the while ignoring the death of babies.

Pope Francis Denies the Catholic Faith and Precepts of the Church…Again

Three years ago I publicly blogged that Pope Francis was a heretic. The reason being that he stated, “if you do not feel you are in need of God’s mercy, then you better not go to Mass.” While we might initially react that this is sound advice, we must remember that Catholics are morally obligated to attend Mass every single Sunday. What we are not morally obligated to do is to receive the Holy Eucharist. We are only required to receive only once a year, and it is preferable to do so around Easter.

Pope Francis Staring

Being that this was still early in his papacy, not even completing his first year, I faced much criticism. I ended up taking the original post down and republishing it on the two-year anniversary of the original publish date. Interestingly enough, Pope Francis has again said something similar.

Speaking to the youth of the parish of Santa Maria in the city of Guidonia, Pope Francis said:

If I say I am Catholic and go to Mass, but then don’t speak with my parents, help my grandparents or the poor, go and see those who are sick, this does not prove my faith, there’s no point. So it is none other than parrot Christians, words, words, words, I wonder if you remember that song. Christian witness you do with three things: the word, the heart, the hands.

While these acts fall under both the spiritual and corporal works of mercy, they are not required, nor are they morally obligated to stay in a state of grace. What is necessary is going to Mass each and every week, whether you want to or not.

It is good to perform the works of mercy, as there is great grace that God bestows to those who perform them faithfully. But to say that one who does not perform these works makes Mass pointless, and then to call the individual a “parrot Christian,” is not only insulting to the Catholic who does fulfill his weekly Mass attendance, but to Christ and His Church who gave us the commandment.

Time and time again, we have witnessed the Holy Father insult the Catholic faith and those who make a conscious effort to follow Jesus faithfully. For those who have been paying attention these last four years, especially this past year, you have realized that we have a Pope who very likely doesn’t believe the Catholic faith, as he is constantly rushing to change pastoral practice at every turn.

There are still those out there who believe that Pope Francis is a holy man and is in the mold of his predecessors. Can you imagine Pope John Paul II or Pope Benedict XVI insulting Catholics who faithfully practice their faith by calling them “parrot Christians” for their shortcomings? Can you imagine either of these Popes being offended that a particular group prayed so many Rosaries for them? Can you imagine either of these Popes changing the rubrics of the Mass simply so that they can break them after they go into effect?

I can’t.

Simply put, upon the election of Pope Francis, it was very evident that there was a clear break from previous Popes. When faithful Cardinals who were very close to Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI were ostracized, and unfaithful Cardinals who were clear enemies by the previous two pontiffs become best friends with Pope Francis, you know that we have a problem. And you are silly for thinking that everything is just fine.

Society Is Not Enlightened But Barbaric

Society, to appear more “enlightened” has become barbaric.

An enlightened individual will use logic, reason, and rhetoric to further advance society from it’s most primitive form. An enlightened society will resist those temptations which gnaw at them to embrace their animal instincts. We are not an enlightened society, but rather, a barbaric one.

Instead of using knowledge, society throws it away and prefers to use emotion to make its choices, regardless of the sanity in them. Society murders, steals, swindles, lies, cheats, and has sex with anything that walks. Society feels that it is okay to murder their offspring, simply because their offspring exists and is interfering with their carnal desires.

Society no longer believes that human life has value unless it agrees with their perverted lifestyle and way of thinking. In society’s mind, feeling is what dictates how we are to react and make decisions, not what is best for the individual or collective whole.

Society has devolved into the apes they emulate and believes they are better for doing so. The barbarians walk among us dressed in their fancy clothes and suave style.

Heretical Garbage; For Research Purposes Only

Some time ago, I came across an image of a rubber stamp that said “Heretical Garbage; For Research Purposes Only.” You can use this stamp to mark any books you have that are heretical with it, that way you can have these books safely on your shelf without any worry.

I tried looking on the internet for this stamp but couldn’t really find one, at least nothing affordable. So I decided to make a version that is affordable and allows you to pick whichever size you want.

Over at the Traditional Roman Catholic Thoughts Zazzle Store, you can find this rubber stamp is six different sizes and styles. You can also click on the below image if you’d like to go directly to the page and view it.

heretical garbage

This stamp would make an excellent gift for yourself or a friend who has a lot of books they don’t want to get rid of necessarily. It would be great to use for Pope Francis’ Amoris Laetitia or those Matthew Kelly books, specifically Rediscover Jesus.

New Design and Some Ads

It’s been a few years since I updated the design of the blog. For the most part, the layout is the same as you are used to. For those of you visiting on a desktop computer, you will notice that the site header has changed. It is now a picture of St. Paul preaching the Gospel.

St-Paul-preaching

I found this image some time ago and fell in love with it. It’s a pretty large image, so I cropped it down as best as I could. WordPress’ specifications are fairly specific.

I also caved and added advertising to the blog. I did this for a couple of reasons, primarily being that I have had to put some money into the blog over the last few years. Each year I seem to put more and more into it. I’m hoping that over the course of the year, I will earn enough ad revenue to allow for the blog to pay for itself and break even. Anything extra will be used to reinvest into the blog.

That being said, I have some control over the ads that are being displayed. I’ve done my best to block as many of the potentially offensive ads that one might see, but of course, that is no guarantee. If you are viewing the blog and see one that is offensive, please take a screenshot of it and either email it to me or comment on the post you happen to be viewing.

Also, I am trying to make the ads as non-intrusive as possible while still giving you all a good experience on the site. If you find that the ads are making the site almost impossible to work with, please let me know. This is brand new territory for me.
