Today, Pope Francis made an announcement on when the canonizations of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II. (Video Embedded)

The date that Pope Francis picked is Sunday, April 27, 2014, which is Divine Mercy Sunday.

As you may or may not know Pope John Paul II had a deep devotion to Divine Mercy and named the Sunday after Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday after reading more about it.

Interestingly though is how Pope John XXIII is being canonized without the 2nd approved miracle.

(Soon to be) St John Paul II will be the first saint canonized that would have actually witnessed the Novus Ordo Mass.
